This well-established company in the 77012 area is looking to add a Structural Fitter to the team.
NOT A PIPE FITTERS POSITION, STRUCTURAL FITTING IS VERY DIFFERENT. ONLY APPLY IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH STEEL STRUCTURES. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK OVERTIME.
Job Overview
The Fitter is responsible for the layout, fit, and fabrication of components to assemble any given project. The Fitter will utilize hand tools and welding equipment while following shop details specifications. The role of the Fitter is crucial to the overall manufacturing process of our products.

Job Overview
The Fitter is responsible for the layout, fit, and fabrication of components to assemble any given project. The Fitter will utilize hand tools and welding equipment while following shop details specifications. The role of the Fitter is crucial to the overall manufacturing process of our products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints or other specifications to determine the scope of the work and the materials required.
- Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, overhead cranes, pins, wedges, and hammers.
- Measure and mark materials to specifications per blueprints.
- Identify parts for assembly in the proper order.
- Cut and wash materials with torches according to specifications.
- Tack weld pieces together as needed.
- Remove Rust, mill scale and foreign objects using grinder with wire wheel or wire brush to ensure proper cleaning of parts.
- Operate overhead crane to move materials and components as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in steel fabrication, fitting, or welding.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret blueprints and other technical drawings.
- Ability to use hand tools, welding equipment, and other fabrication equipment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and components.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in an environment that may be noisy, dirty, and/or require personal protective equipment.
- The Fitter will work in a fabrication shop environment, which may include exposure to heat, noise, dust, and fumes.
- The Fitter will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, welding masks, and gloves.
