Job Description

Summary/Objective:

The Shop Helper will be responsible for providing support across various departments within our manufacturing facility. This role requires a proactive and hands-on approach, with duties ranging from operating tools and equipment to assisting with housekeeping tasks and aiding manufacturing staff as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
 
  • Ability to read a ruler/tape measure
  • Utilize a variety of tools and equipment including grinders, bandsaws, forklifts, torches, and plasma cutters to assist in various manufacturing processes
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sweeping floors, cleaning oil spills, emptying hoppers into dumpsters, and disposing of trash in designated areas
  • Provide support to machinists, welders, fitters, Quality Control (QC) inspectors, make-ready personnel, and shipping team members as required
  • Assist in handling and moving materials within the shop floor, ensuring they are properly stored and organized
  • Help streamline workflow processes by assisting in tasks such as material preparation, setup, and cleanup
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Adheres to established procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following proper operating procedures for tools and equipment
  • May be exposed to excessive noise and fumes
  • Required to work overtime and weekends as requested along with performing other duties as assigned
  • Continuously learn and develop skills related to shop operations, machinery, and safety procedures to enhance job performance and contribute to the overall success of the team

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: 
 
  • Ability to drive a forklift or obtain certification
  • Familiar with quality and safety standards
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred but not required
  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment commonly used in manufacturing settings
  • Excellent driving record
  • Ability to understand and apply workplace safety procedures
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb
Pay Rate: Will be considered by level of experience
Work Schedule: 8 nights on / 6 nights off
Hours: 6:00 pm to 6:00 am
