QC Inspector

Job Description
Position Summary:
Perform inspections, checks and tests materials, parts and components used in the manufacture of structural steel fabrication.
Essential Job Functions:
•          Ability to read and understand detail drawings
•          Ability to perform Receiving Inspection, In-Process Inspection and Final Inspection in accordance with internal requirements.
•          Ability to use calipers, OD Micrometers, measuring tape
•          Ability to perform mechanical inspections
•          Able to test weld quality
•          Reporting and identifying nonconforming product.
•          Proper reporting of all testing carried out.
•          Maintain manufacturing and inspection documentation.
Confidently perform/understand the following:
- Use of tapes, squares, fillet gages & related math
- Knowledge of structural steel shapes
- Read structural steel drawings (shop details)
- Understand structural welds / welding process
- Dimensional inspection of structural steel items (re: beams, columns, braces, stairs, supports, frames, handrails
•          High school diploma or GED.
•          1-3 year’s experience that is directly related to the job is required.
•          Ability to read and interpret quality and safety procedures.
•          Proficiency in use in a variety of hand tools and PC and all equipment used in QC.
•          Good communication skills.
•          Computer skills in Word and Excel.
•          May perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
The ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds, stand, kneel, reach and sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
This is a full-time position. Monday through Friday and weekends when needed. Must be available to work overtime.
