Job Description


Mission:

Employee is responsible for following all QHSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Env.) policies and procedures which includes, but is not limited to: Attend scheduled safety training, follow housekeeping requirements, place waste in designated containers, clean up spills; follow operating procedures, and immediately report any injuries or incidents to the supervisor.

Position Purpose:

To provide analytical support and technical assistance for all quality aspects for products formulated and packaged at the Pasadena Site.

Main Accountabilities:

Major tasks and responsibilities of position
  • Conduct day to day sample releases in the laboratory.
  • Provide timely and accurate analytical support to internal customers.
  • Implement chemical analytical methods and procedures to ensure conformance to corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of lab equipment and plant as required
  • Communicate analytical information to managers and production personnel
  • Monitor use and inventory of laboratory chemicals and supplies
  • Schedule and expedite needs from Production, Production Planning, Distribution, and HESS
  • Maintain and audit laboratory documentation as needed
  • Enter data into SAP system

  • Support Pasadena Performance System (ex: organization in lab, pillar involvement)
  • Sample Turnaround Time (< or = factor of 1.5) based on analysis run time. (ISO 9001 Quality objective goal)
  • First Pass Quality Rate (Right the First Time): year-to-date goal >=96%
  • Support and Understand ISO 9001 (Quality Certification)
  • Ensure best practices for continuous improvement are implemented
  • Ensure the Pasadena Site maintains the highest level of quality products produced at the site
  • Sample Turnaround Time (< or = factor of 1.8) based on analysis run time. (ISO 9001 Quality objective goal)
  • First Pass Quality Rate (Right the First Time): year-to-date goal >=96%
  • Ensuring best practices for continuous improvement are implemented
  • Ensuring the Pasadena Site maintains the highest level of quality products produced at the site

Value Added:
  • To achieve consistency in the everyday process of line assignments, data collection, PPS (Pasadena Performance System) requirements, process efficiencies, QHSE oversight, and employee development while ensuring maximum throughput and production schedule attainment.
  • Ensure a safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the Pasadena Site.
  • Ensure products are produced to specification and meet customer needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement activities at the site (e.g.  5S, DTM) Direct involvement in standardization/improvements related to processes (e.g., SOPs)

Education:
  • Chemistry or Science related degree or 2+ years of experience in science related field
  • Basic analytical laboratory skills and knowledge required, understanding of basic chemical processing and process chemistry
  • Demonstrate ability to perform root cause analysis and corrective action implementations
  • Excellent computer skills with an emphasis in Excel
  • Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn and adapt
  • Ability to function as a team member as well as independently with minimal supervision

Experience:
  • Specific HSE training preferred (e.g., Haz-Mat, First Responder, NFPA etc.)
  • Basic understanding of regulatory environment including OSHA, EPA, DOT
  • Demonstrate ability to execute complex assignments and develop solutions & problems.
  • Good Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence.
  • Must be able to work seasonal day/night shift.
  • Computer skills including SAP/SAGE, Microsoft Office products

Shift Information: Once trained this position will move to a rotating shift between 1st and 2nd shift.

Pay Differential Information: $1.00 hr. pay differential ($20.00 hr. total) while on nights.
