About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer/EHSD Specialist to lead and improve our environmental programs, systems, and compliance efforts at our production facility. This role is responsible for managing environmental abatement systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing waste disposal processes, and driving continuous improvement aligned with ISO 14001 standards and company global policies.
Salary Range (Depending on level of experience): $40,000 to $48,000

This role is responsible for managing environmental abatement systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing waste disposal processes, and driving continuous improvement aligned with ISO 14001 standards and company global policies.
Salary Range (Depending on level of experience): $40,000 to $48,000
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Systems Management (50%)
- Oversee environmental abatement systems, discharge processes, and disposal streams.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ regulations, and all federal, state, and local environmental and health requirements.
- Maintain and improve environmental systems and reporting, including monthly and annual KPIs.
- Ensure ISO 14001 certification and continuous improvement of management systems.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and required environmental training for employees.
- Review engineering projects for safety and participate in Management of Change processes.
- Analyze and optimize waste disposal processes for cost efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Reduce emissions and waste generation through process improvements.
- Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Compile and report KPI data through corporate systems and take corrective action when targets are not met.
- Support Health and Safety initiatives within the plant.
- Provide technical expertise to improve processes and ensure compliance with environmental goals.
- Participate in strategic EHS team discussions and MICR compliance improvement efforts.
Major Job Challenges:
- Ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations and ISO 14001 standards.
- Driving continuous improvement in environmental systems and procedures.
- Reducing waste generation while optimizing disposal methods.
- Aligning operational processes with company global standards.
Key Interfaces:
- Internal: Technical and managerial counterparts, BU senior management, plant associates (~100 employees).
- External: Regulatory agencies, compliance officers, suppliers, and customers.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related field (strong focus on waste creation and management).
- 4–7 years of professional experience in environmental or quality management within an industrial setting.
- Extensive on-the-job environmental experience may substitute for a degree.
- Knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ regulations; Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
- Proficient in O365 and related software applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and mitigate environmental and workplace risks.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
